About Us

History

The Action Centre originated as a day centre within the Constance Lethbridge Rehabilitation Centre. In 1998, it became an independent community-based program dedicated to supporting adults with physical disabilities. Initially located in Pointe-Saint-Charles, the Action Centre moved to LaSalle in 2002 and, since 2023, is proudly based in Ville Saint-Laurent in a modern and accessible space that is spacious, well-equipped, and thoughtfully designed to meet the needs of our members.

Over the years, the Centre has grown into a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive community—one that many of our members consider a second home. As we look ahead, we are excited to be approaching our 30th anniversary in just two years, a meaningful milestone that will celebrate three decades of impact, connection, and community!

Mission Statement

The Action Centre is a member-based bilingual community organization where adults with physical disabilities are supported in achieving their full potential. Equal access, inclusivity, respect, and empathy are our guiding principles.

Focusing on education, socialization, recreation and wellness, the Action Centre enhances the quality of life of its members in a safe, enriching environment. The Action Centre provides respite care for its members’ caregivers thus improving their quality of life as well.

The Action Centre raises public awareness about the needs of individuals with physical disabilities and the systemic barriers that hinder their personal and professional development.
